Abundance Comes to Cuzco These Days
Our fields are full to overflowing with the wonders of farming. The time of the harvest is approaching and soon, in May, our farmers will be hard at work gathering their crops. These days our corn and potatoes are especially radiant, whether in the upland fields or in the Sacred Valley.
The month of abundance is upon us. To our markets arrive fresh and delicious produce sent by small-scale producers who work hard to get their quality crops to market.
If you go out of the city you can appreciate the harvest that will soon happen. The corn is fat, tall, and thick with ears, while potato plants also look luxurious and filled with purple or white flowers. They make for stunning scenery.
There is more, all the goods we are enjoying these days, carrots, squash, green broad beans, lisas (olluco), sweet corn, and all the varieties of potatoes from our many ecological zones.
We always thank our mother earth that brings this harvest to us for the survival of our whole community here in the Peruvian Andes.
