The living Inca town of Ollantaytambo was chosen as one of the Best Tourist Towns, along with 41 other cities from different parts of the world, at the 24th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, which was held in Madrid, Spain.
Ollantaytambo is a transcendental architectural jewel that is located on the way to one of the 7 wonders of the world Machu Picchu, Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In addition to being part of the best examples of towns that adopt tourism to provide opportunities and promote sustainable development.
A great ceremony was held in the same archaeological center of Ollantaytambo, where the trophy for Best Tourist Town was awarded, a prize that was awarded by the World Tourism Organization. It had the participation of the authorities and special guests, who participated in a beautiful traditional dance representative of Ollantaytambo, we are talking about the “Wallata” dance performed by locals from the district.
With traditional clothing and pututos they delivered this great recognition that puts the people of Ollantaytambo, the city of Cusco and all of Peru in the world’s eye.
