After the last restrictions due to the second wave of COVID 19, Cusco was in the last weeks at a very high risk level and therefore they had to close the archaeological centers and this includes our wonder Machu Picchu, stopping the tourist reactivation.
Thus, on March 1, 2021, the archaeological centers, including Machu Picchu, were reopened, the visit to archaeological monuments, museums, cultural centers and other establishments will be with a capacity of 40% of the authorized total.
On the other hand, the city of Cusco has all the health protocols against COVID 19, since like Machu Picchu it has the Safe Travels seal, indicating it as one of the few safe places to visit. Train tickets will also cost 12 soles for national tourists, in this way to continue with the economic reactivation.
Another piece of news is that the reopening of the Inca Trail, a very busy route expected by visitors, is being evaluated. The agencies in charge of maintaining this route did not stop before the closure of the archaeological centers, that is, it is now ready to be reopened.
We are waiting for good news regarding the tourist and economic reactivation for the city itself, visitors are also already planning their visits again and of course the city is preparing to receive them with open arms.
