Caporales Rush the Main Square on Saturday Night

Cuzco’s Main Square filled with the aggressive sounds of music from the highlands of Puno and nearby Bolivia Saturday night when association after association of dancers of Caporales danced in, along with one Diablada. Not affiliated strictly with a saint, as in Corpus Christi, this massive parade of highland culture marks the strong, and controversial incursion of Puneño and Bolivian culture into Cuzco. Here we give you a video clip of one of the Caporales as the troupe turned the corner into the plaza recorded by Alonzo Riley.
