Cusco is a magnificent city, rich in art and culture, that astonishes the whole world. It had great archaeological remains and a great variety of ceramics and music. At the beginning of the great celebration for its jubilee day the Decentralized Directorate of Culture Cusco will present the VI Festival of the Performing Arts and it will be based in Indigenous languages.
The main objective of this festival is to promote the arts in Quechua, Aymara, and the Amazonian languages throughout the Cusco region. This ambitious project has been developed since the beginning of this year with workshops and competitions that have allowed the selection of different groups throughout the southern region for the presentation in this festival giving them economic stimuli so they can disseminate and strengthen their art in the whole region.
All these activities will be held in the Municipal Theater of Cusco, the Municipal Theater of San Jerónimo, and the Auditorium of the ICPNA from June 3rd to the 14th in which 18 artistic performances of dance and theater by regional, national, and international casts will be staged. • Ondinnok Group of Canada
