January, the Month of Fruit

The scent of fresh fruit grabs you when you enter the fruit section of the different markets of Cuzco, such as San Pedro, Ttio, Rosaspata, and Wanchaq, among others. The fruit fills the stands to overflowing. Their colors vary like the rainbow of the flag of Tawantinsuyo. While the bright colors call attention the rich flavors of the fruit please the palates of any mortal being who decides to buy them and taste them.

Even in the streets you will see women dressed in the characteristic white apron and cap selling fresh fruit to passersby. It is hard to resist buying some to take home or to eat as you go.

In January, the markets fill with fruit. It comes from all parts of Peru and elsewhere. This is truly the month of fruit.
