Art Exhibit in the City of Cusco’s Center

A few days ago, an exhibition of sculpture opened in the Plaza de Armas of the City of Cusco.  It consists principally of a series of sculptures from the series “Gordita” (Fat woman) and include popular and creative figures that are filled with personality and attraction.

You will find the sculptures located in different places, such as the Plaza e Armas, the Plazoleta Reegocijo, the Plazoleta Espinar and the Marques Street. They are calling the attention of Cusco’s people who go by there, making them take pictures and selfies with these creative sculptures.

Each has a title and a description. Furthermore, there are large posters that explain the entire exhibit.

img_2595In recent years and in an independent fashion, Xu Hongfai carried out a tour of the world with the series “Gordita”. As of the moment, her art has been shown in more than 20 laces, among them Sydney and Melbourne in Australia; Sicilia, Tuscany, Milan, Turín, Florence, and Siena in Italia; the Louvre in Paris, France; London in the United Kingdom; Berlin in German; Vienna en Austria; Istanbul in Turkey; Singapore; and Los Angeles in the USA.

Xu Hongfei narrates La Gordita from an international point of view with a unique oriental style from Contemporary China, transmitting a message of self-confidence, good humor, and optimism of human beings, awakening concern among citizens of different levels of occidental society.

img_2603This series has caused great impact in many places, in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America developing along the way a great international style. Xu Hongfei has become a representative of Chinese Art in the world.

Now it is Latin America’s turn.  Presentations like Xu Hongfei help citizens to be more conscious and to interact with other cultures. If you wish to see these sculptures they are still in Cusco.
