What You Should Know about the Folkloric Parade Yesterday in Cusco’s Plaza de Armas
A parade of folkloric dances was performed yesterday in Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, its main square. It was organized by the directors of the Commercial Center El Molino. Merchants and workers showed their agility, joy, and color in their dances, attracting attention from all present, national and foreign tourists as well as local people.
The celebration opened in the Plaza San Francisco where the dancers gathered to practice their presentation before arriving in the Plaza de Armas, where spectators were awaiting the folkloric dances with applause.
The different media’s means of communication accompanied the course of the dancers, from the San Francisco Plaza, down Garcilaso Street, Heladeros, the Park fo the Mother, and Plateros until they arrived at the central plaza where a great multitude was waiting.
Under a blue sky, few clouds, and an intense heat the organizers and jury were prepared for the presentation of dances in the stage set up in front of the Cathedral. The parade began around 12 pm. The CC El Molino danced with great grace for the public from who they received applause and whistles.
El Molino is a very popular Commercial Center or market for Cusco’s society. It is found in the district of Wanchaq, ten minutes from the Plaza de Armas. The majority fo the merchants in this space are from the area of Puno and from Cusco. It is an exclusive place for making all kinds of purchases. The majority of those who come are locals although you will also find national visitors as well as foreign tourists shopping here. It is open from 9 am to 8 pm.
