Schedule of Festivities in Cusco

As is well known, the city of Cuzco celebrates its anniversary month in June of every year. It culminates on the 24th with the pageant of Inti Raymi.
Days before the 24th all the public and private institutions carry out a parade, a pasacalle, through the Plaza de Armas in order to salute Cuzco on its anniversary by presenting dances and allegories.
Here is the itinerary of events:
Thursday, June 11, the city will enjoy the Octava (the Eighth Day) of Corpus Christi at 3 pm along with a Gastronomic Festival to be carried out by San Francisco especially at midday. There you can enjoy the delicious chiriuchu, the iconic dish of Cuzco.
Friday, the 12th of June at 9 am the children from Cuzco’s kindergartens will dance on the plaza in a parade of typical dances. You can appreciate the small children learning Cuzco’s customs and ways.

Saturday, June 13th, will bring us a parade from the Universidad Global in homage to Cusco at 9 am. At 10am the Universidad Austral will also parade as a salute to Cusco. At 6 pm the city will enjoy a parade of Caporales as a salute to Cuzco from Qollasuyo. The different groups of dancers of saya within the city will dance down the Avenida Sol and into the Plaza de Armas.
Sunday, June 14th at 11 am the Centers del Adulto Mayor from ESSALUD will present themselves in the Plaza de Armas, followed at 11:30 am by a parade from the Markets and Commercial Centers of Cuzco. This will be one of the longest parades and in it you will appreciate a great quantity of dances, musicians, and choreographies specifically for this day.
