How to get to the city center of Cusco

Are you thinking of traveling to the city of Cusco to visit all its tourist attractions? Here we give you the route you must take to get to the city center where all the companies dedicated to tourism, such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, exchange houses, banks and much more, are located.

All flights from the city of Lima arrive at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport located south of the center of the city of Cusco approximately 25 minutes in a vehicle.

Going out the door of the airport you can find safe taxis who are offering their services to take you to the city center. Of course, the service they provide is good and a little expensive. If you want, another option is to go to the main avenue called with the same name of the airport, here you can take a taxi that will be cheaper.
Velasco Astete Avenue ends in an oval with water fountain and flags around to start on the 28 de Julio Avenue. This avenue iwill take us directly to one of the most famous monuments in the city of Cusco called Pachacuteq in commemoration of the ninth ruler and greatest of the Inca civilization.

Then we will enter the Alameda Pachacutec avenue that will take us to the Paccha de Pumaqchupan (water source in the tail of the Puma). This monument is known by all people. It is said that the city of Cusco had the shape of a puma and in this precise place in the past two rivers were joined, the river Saphi and the Tullumayo, forming the tail of the puma.

Finally we enter the Avenida el Sol, very important for the Cusco and at the same time very busy. This avenue goes by one of the most important tourist attractions “The Qorichancha (Palace of the Sun or Golden Palace)”. All the banks and change houses are located on this avenue. Then we finally reach the main square of Cusco.

All the streets in the center of the city of Cusco have historical and cultural value. Each tells important events of history in different moments of the past.
