Flowers and chocolates rushed out of stores and markets to honor Cuzco’s mothers. But that is not the only honor that came from their spouses and children. Throughout the week, schools have held special celebrations in which children have honored their mothers and motherhood.
In what follows we share with you one such performance in this city where the Qoya, the Inca Queen, and the Ayar Sisters, the founding women of Incadom, were also important and left guiding monuments, tales, and wisdom, even if the Spanish were not always able to hear or understand.
