The Great Civic Parade Salutes Cusco Today

The general and great civic parade that renders homage to Cusco is in process today.  In a certain sense it is the key day of the festivities, the preamble to Inti Raymi, the feast of the sun.

We live a great event of the street, with dances and typical costumes. All the people pass by to the rhythm of drums and even trumpets. All the provinces institutions, both public and private, make known their formal greeting to Cusco and the general population by participating.

The path goes from the Sun Avenue at about Calle Quera and continues through the carpet of spectators that surrounds the Plaza the Armas, goes down the Calle Espaderos to end at the Plaza Regocijo.

From the temple of Coricancha you can see and feel the great multitude that comes to this great parade, a festival that focuses on the Plaza de Armas.  National and foreign tourists enjoy all the color and the mixture of cultures, with the wonderful and varied costumes and the representatives of the three regions of Peru.

In the parade you will see numerous dances from the region of Cusco performed in honor of the Imperial City as its people have done for time immemorial.  Hailly Cusco. Long Live Cusco.
