Anniversary of the Clorinda Matto de Turner School
Today, Thursday the tenth of november, around 11 am, the Plaza de Armas od the city of Cusco was converted into a festive place due to the 64th anniversary of the creation of the emblematic school for señoritas, Clorinda Matto de Turner.
A large number of people gathered in the main square of the city to appreciate the parade of dance troupes from this institution. At thefront were the smallest girls who with their enchantment and warmth conquered all present.
Grade by grade and section by section the presented their different dance troupes and choreographies brough to celebrate this great day. Accompanied by bands of musicians, carrs, and more, they carried out a passacalle, a parade which began at the Qoricancha from which the dancers made their way to the Plaza de Armas and finished in the Regocijo Park before the Municipal building.
Furthermore, almost all the dancers were girls or women since this Insitution is a school for señoritas. The lack of boys meant that the girls dressed to play the role of boys in the dances. This made the dances fun as they imitated the brusque movements of males.
In this way the whole Educational Institutions, Clorinda Matto de Turner presented a great variety of dances to celebrate its anniversary.
