A Perfect Combination, Corn and Cheese (Choclo con Queso)
Cheese and Corn Ready to Be Eaten (Walter Coraza Morveli)
Because of the incomparable combination of flavors that is choclo (corn on the cob) with cheese more and more people sell it. These foods have grown in demand with the passing of years and for that reason even restaurants have decided to offer it so that people can enjoy it as an appetizer before a main course.
At the side of our markets as well as on different street corners choclo and cheese is sold. Most of the people selling it are females. They are of different agea and wear a white apron. Some also wear a cap in the same color. They are very friendly and warm as they serve their clients with feeling and patience.
Where they set up to sell, they have by their side a small stove and on it a big pot where they are cooking the corn. By their side is a small table where they have molds of cheese ready to be cut into slices. The vendors are careful to set up well so they can be comfortable selling throughout the day.
A few meters before arriving where they are selling corn and cheese (choclo con queso) you will already notice their intense and enticing scent. It is so tempting that it makes it difficult for people to resist the corn and cheese. The caseras, vendors, will serve you a large cob of corn and a medium slice of cheese. This will fill you and will cost you only 2/S.
They bring the best choclos to Cusco from the Sacred Valley near Urubamba. Thanks to its particular rich and sweet taste along with the creamy and salty cheese our vendors have found a perfect combination and have conquered the palates of adults and children in Cusco and the rest of Peru.
