A Beautiful Sunrise in Tres Cruces

Undoubtedly, one of the unique places in the world, to receive the first rays of sun in a beautiful sunrise, is the Mirador de Tres Cruces or also known as “El Balcón del Oriente”, from this plane you can contemplate the solstice winter, from June 20 to July 20, it is impressive to see the birth of the sun on a new day, the sun gives the impression of reflecting above the clouds that cover the Manu National Park and at the same time you can see the spectacular cloud forests, the chain of mountains and the flow of the Paucartambo river.

The Tres Cruces viewpoint is one of the natural places, where it allows you to fly in your imagination, after seeing the birth of the sun on the horizon, this natural phenomenon is known by the name of “White Ray” and it only occurs when sunlight passes through the humid atmosphere and is distorted as if through a prism.

It is known from images that the effect that sprouts is of three suns, where one of which jumps from one place to another, this natural spectacle occurs during the winter solstice dawns. Therefore, it is recommended to arrive to this place during the dry season.

I remember once, having heard, a short legend that tells about the sunrise on this plane. The dawn in the Tres Cruces viewpoint, occurred because people went to this place in order to cleanse their soul through the sunlight that passes through this area, these rays of the rising sun, away hatred, pain, selfishness, envy and anger, in order to turn them into peace and love with their warmth and natural magic.

This magical natural viewpoint is located in Acjanaco in the Challabamba district 45 km, southwest of the Paucartambo province in the Cusco region.

The start to get to this wonderful viewpoint is in the province of Paucartambo, from there you must take a collective car that takes you along the road that leads to the Manu National Park. From there you ascend about 4000 meters above sea level, to be able to witness this natural phenomenon.

If you are looking for a unique and magical experience, you will be surprised and moved to arrive at Tres Cruces, since only from there, everything becomes spectacular in sight, the combination of gray, red, blue and yellow colors lift your spirits.

The people who arrive are filled with emotion as they wait for the first rays of the sun, those present receive this natural spectacle with applause of joy, Andean songs in the sun, Andean instrumental music, while photography lovers capture these unique moments.

This spectacular viewpoint is very popular during the Virgen del Carmen festivities in Paucartambo (between July 15 and 19) since the influx of foreign and national visitors increases due to faith, customs and natural interests.
