The 28th Anniversary of Cusco’s Caja Municipal and the Best of its Festive Parade

The City of Cusco begins to breathe a festive air. This morning the Caja Municipal del Cusco surprised the city’s people and tourists with numerous colorful and traditional dances from all over Peru.

For its 28th Anniversary this important institution presented a festive passacaglia of beautiful dances that generated great pleasure and sound throughout the Plaza de Armas. The Caja’s employees came from its many agencies to perform, whether from Cusco, Lima, Arequipa, and Puerto Maldonado. They interpreted dances such as Siklla, Carnaval Cusqueño, Morenada, y Chuqchu, among others.

From the Plaza’s colonial balconies of its restaurants, cafés and hotels that surround the Plaza you could see a great multitude of tourists who were enjoying this fascinating passacaglia. The spectators were fascinated by the colorful costumes and representative figures of each dance. No one lost an opportunity to take a selfie with the dancers. It was a great attraction.=
