The Schedule of the Great Fiesta of Paucartambo

The fiesta in Paucartambo de la Mamacha del Carmen is a great festivity that captures everyone with its intense celebration, folk dances and colorful dresses.

The miracles of the Virgin of Carmen between July 15 and 18 are celebrated with faith and devotion. It has been declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

This beautiful small town is located in the middle of imposing high mountains and a charming river called Mapacho, whose pure waters descend from the snowy “Apu Ausangate”.

The people are welcoming, they make you feel a warm and welcome an that gives you peace and shows you a different life from the city. Paucartambo has a living culture.

Tres Cruces is the other special reason for this fiesta. It is located at an altitude of 3,739 meters above sea level and 35 km from the town of Paucartambo. It is an overlook where all Andeans will see the spectacular sunrise and the exit of Tayta Inti (grandfather in Quechua). They go to receive the first rays of light as a blessing.

Paucartambo is a small place but with a big heart. It attracts many faithful and visitors from all over the world. It’s is one of the most awaited celebrations in Cusco. Once a year, people gather to be part of the fiesta.
