The peasant community that managed to cure their river is a finalist to win a world award The Peasant Community of Cordillera Blanca is a finalist in the world contest, Solution Search: Water Pollution & Behavior Change.

This initiative is a finalist among the 10 favorites in the world competition.

In the house of Don Vicente, located at more than 3600 meters above sea level, his wife Teodora and his family celebrate that the initiative to purify the waters of the Negro River, has been selected to represent our Peru in this contest, which seeks innovative ideas to reduce and prevent pollution of the entire planet.

We know that human beings and the ecosystems we inhabit basically depend on clean water. That is why this contest is looking for ways of existing and successful solutions that reduce water pollution through behavioral changes. The purification of the waters of the Black River has become a favorite option of the contest.
