The exchange of products is the action of giving and then receiving something back. It is very important in our country, Peru. Since ancient times products from different regions and zones of the country arrive in exchange.
In the past exchange was carried out between nearby zones. It was done without money and with products. People had to walk long ways taking and carrying products. Today, modern transport helps carry the goods from one place to another in a more versatile way, saving time. More and more places are now reachable by roads and modern transport.
Today goods are carried from the coast, the highlands, and the jungles. For example, potatoes from the highlands, fish from the coast, and fruit from the jungle are transported. We see this great variety in our markets. They have an increasing variety of products. People are happy to enjoy products beyond those from their region alone.
This exchange of goods seems to rest deep in our subconscious as Peruvians. When people travel from one place to another to visit their loved ones they usually carry their products to remind them and to place before them the flavors of their land.
In this way all places bring and take products in exchange, sometimes involving purchase and sometimes not, but in all cases with the idea that it is important among friends and family members, as well as others. It is one of those basic ideas we have.
You see this when people travel, but also when they share with loved ones. You also see it in our work like ayni, where we help each other. all of life is giving and receiving reciprocally.
