A Capero Playing in a Feast (Walter Coraza Morveli)
In a town on the high altiplano, the high plateau, they held a lot of fiestas and they brought in bands of musicians. For a special fiesta they contracted with one of these bands to come and delight all with the songs they knew.
As in any other fiesta food and drink were abundant. Little by little the hours passes and with each one the fiesta got closer to its end. Everyone, including the musicians, was drunk. The clock struck midnight and suddenly a beautiful young woman came up to the band to give the musicians some instructions.
She asked them to go to her house to play a few songs and that they would be well paid for their efforts and that there was abundant food there. Since the fiesta was finishing the band members accepted with pleasure since they did not want to quit at midnight. One of them, the youngest said he needed to use the bathroom and for the rest to go on ahead.
From a distance away he saw a door open up in the emptiness. It opened like a star in the sky with a very strong light. Inside he could see a lot of riches such as gold and silver. He also saw abundant food. The other musicians, taken in by what they saw, entered immediately while the boy who stayed behind could not get there to warn his friends not to go in.
The door opened into hell and the musicians became trapped there. Nothing was known about them except that on certain occasions at midnight people say a door opens in the emptiness and you can hear a fiesta inside, filled with music from that band. The invite you to come in but once in you disappear without a trace.
