A siren sounded and a flash mob began dancing in Cuzco’s Plaza de Armas, as part of a spot being filmed in honor of Peru’s National Holidays, centered on its Independence Day the 28th of July.
The mob first broke into dance around two-forty five this afternoon. Then after a break they did it again, followed by a bit of rehearsal and another couple of takes. At the conclusion of each take, a red and white banner dropped that said “celebrate the rhythms that make us unique.”
Although the spot will undoubtedly be shown during this weekend’s celebrations, Cuzco Eats will give a preview of the fun with some photographs of the dancers who were costumed to represent the diversity that officially composes Peru, even though the vast majority of the people are of native origin. The Indigenous Peruvians appear as a small minority among the vast group of dancers.
As they ended, “hip, hip hurrah” for Peru.
