In the Plaza Tupac Amaru you can but your sweets for Easter

Today, Holy Thursday, all the plazas of the city of the Cusco like the plaza Tupac Amaru, San Francisco, Belén, etc. become places where they sell sweets for Holy Week. These include empanadas, meringues, little breads, etc. These days most people will go to one of these to make their purchases.

Each year it seems the empanadas have a softer and more delicious flavor. Besides the taste, they are a good combination with the colored sprinkles scattered rose over them. The price of these empandas are 50 cents of the sol depending on the size.

For this year the municipality of Cusco and the association of industrial bakeries “ASINPAC” have baked a giant empanada that measures about 130 cm by 200 cm. They want to break a record since there will be 60 people who will knead and make it.

One of the vendors stated that the different partners of the association ASINPAC provided the different ingredients for this giant creation. They have been working from very early in the morning. The giant empanada is assembled by parts. In addition, all the bakers who helped will offer the public their own products. This event began at 9 am in the plaza Tupac Amaru and at 12 noon, following the inauguration, it will be distributed to all those in attendance.

This Holy Week let us enjoy in our families the delicious sweets that are offered us today in the Cusco’s plazas.
