Rain Comes with Beauty under Its Arm

I was born in Cuzco, an amazing city with a fascinating culture and rich tradition which enchants the people who have the opportunity to visit.

The beautiful landscapes have always impressed me. When I was a child, especially during the rainy season, the beauty was overwhelming.

Rain is like a person. For us it can be either male or female. They play an important role in the Andes because they bring fertility. Still they are both intense. Their coming demands respect, as the older people tell us.

When the rainy season comes, many people from Cuzco run away from the wet and cold. They go to drier and warmer places. Cuzqueños dream of being on the beach, eating ceviche, and enjoying the sunny weather.

But they do not realize that they miss out on the landscape’s beauty. When the rain pauses, freshness claims the land. Everything is green and clear. The air is pure.

The rain awakens the earth. It blooms in a riot of new growth and flowers. Fields of corn and potatoes change every day and gleam an light, clean and refreshed.

The ground is like a carpet of  green grass. The sky is blue flecked with white . It feels like you are in a paradise.  It is tranquil.  Though outdoors, you feel like you were in the privacy of your room where you can dream of endless possibilities.
