Photos of Yesterday’s celebration.

Yesterday was the second major celebration of our Carnivales (Carnival) in the city of Cusco. Everyone was in full fiesta mode. They had lots of fun. The comadres celebrated to the end and had a beautiful day with lots of tradition and living culture.

Just as in every year, on the second Thursday of Carnival, this year in February, we celebrate the Day of the Comadres of Cusco. For that reason all the neighborhood markets put up a large doll representing a comadre in public view. They also wrote on posters funny phrases about comadres.

This year a competition was also held to elect the best doll of comadres. In what follows we share with you many of the comadritas that were presented in different parts of our city.
