Photo Essay of the Lord of the Temblors by night
The procession of the Lord of the earthquakes gathers tens of thousands of faithful every year during Holy Week, a religious celebration that involves the entire population of Cusco.
Being part of the procession and blessing of the Taytacha of Temblors is an exciting experience where faith and devotion, the deepest feelings of the faithful, are visible. Among his thousands of followers, the Lord made his way, listening to the sound of the bells especially the deep sound of the Maria Angola bell as he begins his journey.
I was there at night accompanying the Taytacha closely on his route in the midst of many policemen who almost did not let me get very close. I was there, breathing the aroma of incense that rose with great faith from the many incense burners. It is a magical aroma. At the same time, I listened to the chants of the women who went before the Lord. I also heard simultaneously the sound of the sirens and the bells that indicate the arrival of the Taytacha to our main square to give his blessing. People waited with great faith and devotion with their bouquet flowers.
The procession at night is a magical and profound experience of pure and noble feelings where faith is the main source.
In a photo essay, I will show you the route of our patron jurado at night from the church of San Francisco to the Plaza de Armas.
