Peruvian Cuisine Leads the World Once Again

For food, Peru is once again the best destination in the world. For the second time in a row, the World Travel Awards gave this Andean country the award for the Best Culinary Destination. Announced in a ceremony in Qatar this last weekend, travel professionals throughout the world joined in voting for Peru as the best.

Peru has received this distinction for the second consecutive time, after being awarded the best destination for cuisine in South America in 2011.

The World Travel Awards is an association of professionals from within the travel industry who annually come together to name the best destinations in a range of categories as a means of recognizing value within the domain of tourism and travel. This recognition places Peru at the top of the culinary world, following long-lasting efforts by Peruvians to seek distinction for their cuisine.

After a process in which nominees from the different regions of the world competed for honors, Peru bested a class of nominees in the world that included such gastronomic heavy-hitters as Australia, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, and the United States
