Peru was named the winner of the World Travel Award “South America’s Leading Culinary Destination” for 2012 as part of the lead up to the 19th global World Travel Awards.
The ceremony in which Peru won this award was held on September 14, 2012 in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Jorge Chavez Airport of Lima was also named “South America’s Leading Airport 2012” and Prom Peru was named South America’s Leading Tourist board 2012.
In these awards, the hard work of branding Peru for global travel, and focusing on Peruvian gastronomy receives recognition.
The regional winners will compete in the Grand Final to be held December12, 2012 in India at the Oberoi Hotel in Gurgaon India.
