The knowledge and the techniques in the elaboration of the masks of Paucartambo were declared Cultural Patrimony of the Nation, this past 15th of June 2018

Two weeks before the start of the Mamacha of Carmen fiesta in Paucartambo, this news has given great joy to the folklore capital of Peru at the same time it fills the town with pride.

These beautiful masks are the artistic expression and cultural representation of the province of Paucartambo in one of the most amazing fiestas of our country, that of the Virgen del Carmen.

In the feast of the virgin there are around 19 dances, each one with enigmatic masks that represent the skill of the mask artist. This is expressed both in the technical domain of sculpture and painting as well as in the knowledge he has of the choreography and meaning of dance and music, of the hierarchy of the dancers.
