Pork belly, A Remedy for a Strong Stomach

The traditional food of Cusco is one of the most pleasant in the country and has great variety. It appears abundantly throughout the year because parties and activities are held in which food is essential.

Just as it is delicious and nutritious in many cases it can also sit bad or heavily for the people who do not have the habit of eating our traditional food, causing bloating, cramps, or stomach pain.

One of the remedies we use to prevent this is the famous anisette, a famous liquor made of anise. It is commonly said that “it brings down the food”, it settles your stomach. We also use infusions of different plants like the good herb, chamomile, muña (a native mint like plant), etc. They help us maintain good digestion.

When they are small, children are not accustomed to the food and get colic as a result. One of the solutions we have for them is to eat pork belly.

Pork belly is considered hard because the pig eats everything and does not get sick. It is said that eating this part of the pig in any type of food makes our stomach become harder such that it can withstand and enjoy all our typical dishes.
