The Peoples of the Andes of Peru are characterized by the customs and traditions they possess and these can be seen in the festivities that they carry out throughout the year. But there is something else within these customs and traditions and we could call it magic.
Since ancient times the inhabitants were connected with the environment that surrounded them. This included the four elements water, air, fire, earth and all living beings animals and plants. it is for this reason the earth and its contents were very important deities and the ancestors had a ritual for them that took place at a certain time.
For example, one of these rituals is the payment to the Pachamama, the earth lady, where they give the land offerings asking for different things they wanted whether good or bad. In many cases they are fulfilled. The fields produce more and the animals on the farms reproduce more.
There is also the k’intu of coca and the illas or conopas that contain the wishes of the people and cause constructions to be durable and agriculture to improve. In some places, when it rains in the dry season they use some methods like burning some object that produces smoke and this as if by magic changes the weather until the rainbow is released.
The villages of the Andes are full of customs and traditions. They are full of magic that enchants all visitors who come to appreciate the riches they possess.
