International Book Fair in Cusco

Reading is one of the most important areas in the life of every human being since it provides wisdom and education. However, in our country, the rate of people who read daily is very low and those who have never done so is very high, this being a social problem.

As a result of all this, the Ministry of Culture organizes an international book fair in order to motivate new generations to read and to combat the ignorance that is increasing every day, rendering the minds of many children, youth and adults less capable.

This fair is held in many departments of Peru, being today Cusco the headquarters of this magnificent fair. In order to promote reading, the Ministry of Culture of Cusco inaugurated on August 29 the Sixth Edition of the International Book Fair with a diverse program of activities, among these we have the presentation of books, conferences, conversations, workshops, tributes and artistic activities. This lasted 10 days and culminated on September 8 in the main square of Cusco.

This edition had as special guests our brothers and sisters from Bolivia who presented a delegation of intellectuals and gave an emphasis to the fair’s purpose. In addition, different literary works written by local and international authors were presented. This fair had the participation of approximately 90 writers, 9 of these were from Bolivia. It was expected to have the participation of more than 200 thousand visitors exceeding the figure of the last time it was held.
