Holy Week in Cusco has Holy Monday as its central day because on this day the sworn patron of the city of Cusco, the Lord of the Temblors, leaves the Cathedral in procession.

Today all the people of Cusco express their faith and devotion to the taytacha. Thousands of people will arrive at the main square to accompany him in his traditional procession and then receive his blessing as he returns to the Cathedral. .

This religious festival began yesterday with the celebration of Palm Sunday.

The Archbishop of the city offers the Mass of Communion in the Cathedral at 8 am. Masses will be continue to be held every hour until 12 noon.

The procession begins at 2:00 pm in the afternoon when the image of the taytacha leaves the Cathedral Basilica to make its way through the portals of the main square directing its way to the silversmith street, through the park of the mother, the plaza San Francisco and street blankets before returning to the main square where it does the central blessing by night.
