Happy Artisans’ Day

Cuzco celebrates today the day of the artisan. Artisans make important artistic contributions to the city of Cuzco. They teach us our identity and spread our culture around the world. In honor of these great craftsmen and artists today the city will carry out attractive activities, ceremonies, masses, and fiestas. The celebration will continue through the weekend and various courses and workshops will form part of it.

On this sunny day, people are excited for the celebrations. The day will be filled with activities. The Regional President along with the team of DIRCETUR will organize a program which will begin with a ceremony dedicated to “The Great Master of Cuzco’s Artisanry, 2013 ( “El gran maestro de la artesanía Cusqueña 2013”). You are invited to participate in this event.

Activities began this morning at 9 am with a ceremony near the Plaza Tupac Amaru in the Auditorium of the Regional Directorate of Tourism. It is dedicated to all the workers in silver, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, and fantasy.  Midday the activities will continue with a mass in honor of Cuzco’s artists after which a fiesta for all will begin in the PLazoleta of San Blas.

As you could expect each year in the neighborhood of San Blas, the historic neighborhood of artists and craftsmen, a great fiesta is organized in honor of the important artists on this special day.  You should not miss it.
