Happy International Labor Day 2017
Every first of May is celebrated around the world, except in the Unitted States, the International Day of Workers. This day has been declared by the Peruvian State to be a holiday, a non-working day. Around this day people have many different beliefs, such as getting up very early, getting everything ready that is necessary and going to work as never before. It is said that this causes permanent work to be done in the following months. People also celebrate with family and friends for this day.
One of the phrases that is assigned to this day is “Find happiness at work or you will not be happy”, attributed to Christopher Columbus. In many parts of the city people celebrate in community with parties, music, dances, and more. Even the way people work inspires the creation of different dances, such as cobblers, doctors, bakers, farm workers, and many more that reflect the llankaq (work) or also the runa llankaq (worker).
The day of the worker applies to both men and women who break their backs everyday through working hard. For example, transport companies cannot rest, because otherwise there would be no transportation for people to carry out their activities. Also the small stores in family homes must be open and this day their sales will increase considerably.
Midday is very important in most families as they use it to enjoy a delicious traditional lunch and to be able to spend it with their family.
The time to celebrate is after six in the afternoon. Many places, such as the Beer Garden in the city of Cusco, Urubamba’s plaza and the many places in the Sacred Valley, different groups of music of varied styles appear to give a show for this day of the worker.
The team of Cuzcoeats greets all people for the day of the worker. We are proud of our team and the hard work that they perform in order to present before you all this information.
