Biodiversity Fair: Brilliant exhibition of 300 potato varieties in Cusco

Yesterday in the Plaza Regocijo was held an exhibition of 300 varieties of potatoes at the Fair of Biodiversity, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, thus celebrating the national day of potatoes.

It was a beautiful presentation with music, food, dance, and color. A mystical ceremony was also held in honor of the potato carried out by Nivaro Carrillo inka in order to promote the consumption of this product which is planted in 19 regions of Peru.

They installed a stand around the fountain of the square to exhibit the different varieties, colors, and textures of tubers. Tourists and the foreign press were the ones who were most captivated by this celebration. Many enjoyed and were surprised with the taste of the huatia, potatoes baked in the earth.

Data: “The Ministry of Agriculture is working on a National Crops Plan and a plant monitoring system to avoid overproduction of potatoes and the consequent fall in prices in the markets.”

This is how the celebration was lived in honor of the day of the potato!
